Item details

Original Artwork in Embroidery Hoop. A circle of Dill flower umbels is captured in this Cyanotype, on natural cotton fabric, embraced by a Beech wooden hoop. The delicate detail of the white seed heads pops against the Prussian Blue. The back is finished with white felt and a ribbon is added to hang the hoop, or it can be placed on a shelf or dresser.
Handmade using picked and pressed home-grown dill flowers and Hampshire sunshine.

This hoop is named 'Electra' and is numbered and is an original artwork. It measures approximately 6 ".
The beech hoop is British-made and lightly waxed to protect it. The Hoop comes carefully protected in a clear bag and care instructions are included- Dust only do not wash. As with all art, it should be displayed out of direct sunlight, and not in areas of high humidity such as bathrooms. It will be posted in a protective box.

Welcome to Hazleton Art- Botanical Cyanotype Photograms, handmade in Hampshire.

Cyanotype is a camera-less photographic technique, that produces a distinct ‘Prussian Blue’ colour print (Photogram) The process was discovered in 1842 by Sir John Herschel, as a means for reproducing drawings and diagrams (Blueprints). Botanist Anna Atkins in the late 19th century was the first to document seaweed and plants using this technique.
