Mother of Pearl is the name given to the lining or nacre of mollusc shells.
It is a unique combination of minerals secreted by molluscs such as oysters into thin platelets of calcium carbonate that have a width similar to light waves, which gives the nacre an iridescent, shimmering sheen.
Like Pearl, it is a birthstone for June and a popular choice for wedding jewellery.

Full description
Each dainty earring features an 8x4mm Mother-of-Pearl focal bead in the shape of a rose, topped with an 8mm Mother-of-Pearl barrel bead and 4mm round bead, highlighted with tiny 2mm gold vermeil spacer beads.
The rose is exquisitely detailed on both sides of the bead, has a delicate, creamy white colour and excellent lustre, matched by the oval and round beads.
The beads are threaded onto gold vermeil pins and hung from gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a thick 18k gold plate - a much higher quality material, with greater durability, than standard gold-plated metal.
A lovely, handmade gift for an anniversary, birthday, wedding, bridesmaid - or just as a treat for yourself.
These delicate drop earrings measure approximately 1.25 inches (3cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
