Bamboo Coral is a deep sea coral that is naturally a light brown colour, resembling bamboo.
It is dyed for the jewellery trade, usually a deep red to resemble the rare Red Coral.
In ancient times Coral was thought to have the power to protect the wearer against evil and enchantments,
Roman children wore coral necklaces to protect them from danger and keep them healthy.
I source my Coral beads from a reputable supplier, who is a member of the UK National Association of Jewellers.
Black spinel is very durable and has high reflectance, making it an excellent stone for jewellery.
The AAA quality faceted beads I have used here are just beautiful, so shiny and sparkly that it is easy to understand why black spinel was often mistaken for black diamond.

This striking necklace features different shapes and sizes of red Bamboo Coral beads, with AAA grade faceted Black Spinel for a subtle sparkle and Black Onyx for contrast.
The red Bamboo Coral beads are 8mm teardrops along with 2mm, 4mm and a central 6mm round beads.
The 3mm AAA grade Black Spinel are micro-faceted to give a lovely sparkle when they catch the light.
The 4mm Black Onyx beads add a lovely contrast to the postbox red of the coral.
A pair of 'light Siam' Swarovski crystals add extra sparkle.
The piece fastens with a simple black toggle clasp, which is nickel and lead free.
This pretty necklace measures approximately 17 inches (43cm).
Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in an organza gift bag.
