As crabs grow, they shed their shells and grow new ones every few weeks. These discarded carapaces are washed up on the shore. They are surprisingly delicate so not all survive intact, but those that do make lovely material for shore-side crafting. I find quite a lot on my beach combing walks.

Full description
This very attractive light pull pendant is hand crafted with sea shells in Orkney. Encased in resin and turned to shape by hand, the semi-transparent orange-red colour of the resin allows you to see into the pendant, highlighting the natural beauty of the pieces of crab claw and carapace shells collected from the lovely beaches around Sanday, our remote and peaceful island home. It is supplied with 600mm of bright red cord which compliments the colour of the pendant. It is 80mm long and 18mm wide, and postage is included in the price.
Designed by Brian Case on Orkney
