Welcome to Sewn Up Gifts.
I have had a thing about sewing for ever and have made most things. As a result I have collected fabrics from all over. Also some lovely people gift me fabric remnants and upholstery and sometimes it takes a while for me to find the right project for such one off fabrics. I really dislike discarding materials that I can sew into something wearable or decorative. I try to bring individuality to my gift ideas, so no one will ever be given the same.

I was given a handmade bear from the same pattern in the 50s. It took me ages to find Edith Moody and her collection and I hope to make more from her lovely little book.

Full description
My bear has been cut from an original pattern by Edith Moody, a soft toy maker working in the thirties and forties. I have named him Bertie as he has a smart outfit of grey tweed trousers, yellow and blue check shirt and faux crocodile pattern waistcoat. And I reckon he looks quite smart, for a bear of course.
I have made his head and paws from soft brown silky plush and used brown safety eyes small like buttons. His nose and mouth are embroidered with embroidery thread. His black boots are felt as is his collar and bow tie.
Inside he is very soft, as he Is full of safety standard polyester stuffing, just right for a little bear.
Height from toe to top of his head 35cm
Please understand Bertie has not been made for children but for adults who are children at heart!
