In the busyness of life and the increasing demands placed upon us it can be hard to find those precious five minutes of peace to practice our mindfulness exercises or even go to our happy places in our minds. When I painted this image I was in my happy place, creating a tranquil scene. I was indeed imagining walking that shore, beathing in the sea air and listening to the gentle waves.

Mountains by the Sea is a necklace that captures a scene of peace, a happy place if you like. The idea behind this piece was simply to be able to to take a a happy place wherever you go. If the mountains and coast cannot be reached, use the necklace to spark off your imagination and let the mountainous coast come to you. Imagine walking along that shore with the only sound being the tranquil waves. Imagine conquering that mountain in the background, sitting at its summit and watching the world go by. Feels good doesn't it? And that is what this necklace is all about: feeling good.
I created this miniature artwork on a small wooden pendant using acrylic inks. A glass cabochon was then placed upon work to protect it. The inside image is just 12mm in diameter. The pendant itself is just a bit smaller than a penny and hangs upon a black cord with metal clasps and chain.
When caring for this necklace, please avoid getting it wet. If the glass becomes dirty, please clean using a soft dry cloth.
If you like the idea of something different and a transportable happy place, this necklace could make a lovely present for someone or even as a treat for yourself.
