I have made many toadstools and mushrooms but I had never heard of earth stars until I found one in the garden. In keeping with where I found it, I have turned this quartet from our garden’s wood-hawthorn and yew. Their intriguing shape was a challenge I couldn’t resist. I am offering these as a group measuring approximately 5cm in diameter to the tallest at 7.5cms
Earth stars appear as a tiny puff ball and then open up the outer skin, which peels back, standing with a miniature puff ball inside
