I only use a brush in the last few stages as I create a composition, using opposite colours in the first layer I build up blocks of colour with each scrape until the landscape takes form and I add small details to ground the piece and create a focal point to capture the imagination.

My original seascape painting with masterful strokes gives a strong vibrant feel to this coastal setting.
Created with broad scrapes and layers of gouache it gives an abstract feel to each part of the composition. The fisherman's cottage draws your eye giving a hint of cosiness in a wild land unpredictable landscape.
