Pattern to knit a soft cuddly sausage dog toy; the perfect project for cold weather knitting. Make up a cute dachshund puppy either with or without a colourful jumper- he makes a lovely Christmas gift for dog lovers!
Suitable for knitters with just a little experience, this pattern uses increasing and decreasing stitches to shape- the body/head is knitted in one piece with the tail, legs and ears knitted separately and sewn on afterwards. Worked in chunky yarn on straight knitting needles, there is no knitting in the round needed.
Sausage dogs measure 30cm long when complete.
Suggested Yarns: We used a ball of Stylecraft Special Chunky in Camel (1420) for the dog. For the (optional) jumper we used some Stylecraft Special Chunky in Matador Red (1010). You can of course use any colour chunky yarns you have in your stash if you prefer. You will also need a pair of straight 4.5mm knitting needle, toy stuffing, darning needle, and a length of black chunky yarn for the eyes.
