Item details
I'd wanted to do a piece featuring the Barghest for some time - I also happened to have a dramatic photo I'd taken one night from the foot of the 199 steps in Whitby, looking up towards St Mary's Church. The two things were made for each other really and so this charcoal illustration brought them together. The Barghest is a spectral hound, he appears and disappears so I drew him forming from a shadow on the grass.
