I'd wanted to do a piece featuring the Barghest for some time - I also happened to have a dramatic photo I'd taken one night from the foot of the 199 steps in Whitby, looking up towards St Mary's Church. The two things were made for each other really and so this charcoal illustration brought them together. The Barghest is a spectral hound, he appears and disappears so I drew him forming from a shadow on the grass.

Full description

Gothic horror print 'Hunted' featuring the legendary Barghest, the great black hell hound of Yorkshire. One of his haunts is my old home town of Whitby, so here we see him running up the famous 199 steps to St Mary's Church, beside the abbey ruins. The original drawing was done in charcoal pencil on art paper.

One of 24 original artworks for Tales in Sombre Tones, a beautiful illustrated anthology created in collaboration with author Sean Walter. Hunted is the cover image - you can find the gorgeous book itself in my shop.

Please note - I have these printed to order so shipping time is a little longer than my normal turnaround - my studio is really small and I just can't fit Everything in at once :)

The archive quality print is framed ready to hang in a smart black frame made using mdf - an eco friendly alternative to wood created using leftover sawdust, and acrylic safety glazing. Print area size 12" wide by 18" high, frame size 16" x 22".
