The Triumph Stag I felt was a wonderful car but spoilt by the incorrect choice of engine - The management had access to the Buick/Rover V8 but instead decided to develop their own unreliable engine - Many Stag owners have replaced the original engine with the Rover V8 as soon as the inevitable problems began.

HISTORY
The Triumph Stag is a sports tourer sold between 1970 and 1978 by the British Triumph Motor Company, styled by Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti. Although it achieved a sales volume of 26,000 it had a reputation for unreliability mainly caused by the Triumph 3 litre engine so much so that many owners replaced it with the proven Rover/Buick 3.5 litre V8.
