Welcome to my shop full of needle felt birds, artfully made in wool and natural fibres.
I am busy felting new birds and making plans for some exciting new collections for 2026. I only add finished birds to my Folksy shop, so you can rest assured they can be posted within 24 hours of ordering and will fly safely to you or a gift recipient within a few days.

This little bird is very hard to let go of. She is perfect and tiny and has a delicious grumpy frown (they are known colloquially as Grumpies in Scotland, I believe). I really wanted to show the detail in her plumage and especially those flight and tail feathers. I used to have a favourite spot in an ancient woodland where I worked, that would often have Goldcrests in the trees, busily flitting between the branches. When I became ill and could no longer work, I really missed them and of course needed to make one of my own. She is not a toy, she is a treasure. Treat her kindly and she will bring you all the pleasure and delight of her lively tree-loving cousins.

Full description
Life-size and hyper-detailed wool Goldcrest, the tiniest of our Europeans birds and one full of character found in woodlands, parks and some lucky gardens. This is a handmade and original artwork, made in different varieties of sheep’s wool with wire legs wrapped in yarn, a tiny polymer-clay beak and teeny glass eyes. This really is an extra-special piece, made with individual wired- wool feathers for the tail and wings perfect in every detail.
Skilfully crafted using needle-felt techniques, this beautiful little Goldcrest stands 5.5cms tall and 8.5cms long from the tip of her tiny beak to the end of her pretty tail. She sits perfectly in your hand, reminding you of just how delicate she is, and is equally at home in some tiny corner of your desk, bedside table or on a pretty shelf by your plants or bird books. She actually has her own little felt nest, made to resemble her own moss and cobweb home or you could ask for a beautiful piece of mossy Bodmin bark as a special stand.
