There is some controversy over what kind of stone Kambaba Jasper actual is.
Due to its appearance, some believe it to be a form of fossilised algae called stromatolite.
However analysis by the EPI, the German institute for gemstone testing, places it as volcanic in origin, which means it cannot be a fossil as these occur in sedimentary rocks rather than volcanic.
Whatever its origin, once polished it is a truly beautiful and unique stone.
A deep, forest green, with overtones of sage, and black swirls that create strange and wonderful patterns and orbs that resemble eyes.

Gorgeous, polished, 13x18mm oval Kambaba Jasper bead topped with a 5mm Clear Swarovski Crystal and two 4mm Swarovski 'crystal copper' bicones, separated from the Jasper by a 2mm sterling silver round bead and hung from sterling silver ear-wires stamped '925'.
The Kambaba Jasper ovals are a beautiful forest green with swirls of lighter green, tan and black, forming intricate patterns that are unique to each stone.
The last two photographs compare each side of the stones.
These striking earrings measure approximately 1.35 inches (3.5cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small gift bag.
