I painted this after a period of artistic block. I sat down with a small canvas and a photo I had taken of a footpath through woodland at Anglesey Abbey in Cambridgeshire. I felt a large release of energy into this painting and hey there's a mystery figure in it that I didn't consciously paint in. Maybe that was my creative block being set free. the silver leaf was a last minute inspiraton and I panicked becuase I thought I'd put too much in and then I realised how it created the light bouncing off the tree and path. I love this painting very much.

A woodland walk through the grounds of Anglesey Abbey in Cambridgeshire.
It is a small acrylic landscape painting on 15x10x2cm stretched canvas.
The sun is shining through the trees creating shadows and reflections which are represented by the application of silver leaf within the painting which unfortunately barely shows up in photographs. There is a mystery in this painting becuase after I completed it, I suddenly realised that there is a shadow figure in the picture that I did not 'consciously' put there! Cue spooky music!!
