POSTAGE & PACKING

Most of our prices include postage and packing although we have had to add postage costs to one or two small items as they are not viable to post in small numbers.

Sadly - in view of the recent price increases we will be posting at 2nd class rate from now on.

As we work with natural materials and in a sustainable way, we are making a conscious decision to re-use packaging as much as possible. As far as we can, it will be recyclable or biodegradable. Where it is not, please re-use it again as often as possible before carefully disposing of it.

Nonetheless, please be assured that all parcels will be carefully packaged. If you require something gift wrapped then please let us know.

If you wish to purchase more than one item from our shop, please email us prior to your purchase so we can recalculate postage and packing costs.

Thank you for shopping with us.

I have made a slightly larger version of this for many years for stick solar lanterns. This is a slightly short and squatter version - ideal for a pretty trailing plant, a jam-jar full of lights or pretty flowers.

The price includes P&P

Full description

A spiral weave pot plant hanging basket with a twisted willow handle. Looks fabulous with a small trailing plant - or add a small jam-jar full of sparkling lights or pretty flowers from the garden. Tiny succulent plants - they look gorgeous trailing from these - and don’t need much watering attention.

Basket - height 24cms x diameter 12cms. Height to top of handle 35cms

There are many thousands of different varieties of willow grown right across the world. The most commonly used for basketry are Salix triandra, Salix viminalis and Salix purpurea. Of these there are many more or less suitable for basketmaking - the most commonly used being Salix triandra 'Black Maul'.

Black Maul in itself can be used in four ways - as the standard brown basket willow; boiled and stripped of it's bark which produces the lovely honey-coloured buff willow; as white willow - where Black Maul is cut in the winter and left to stand in shallow trays of water until it starts to shoot - then stripped of it's bark to leave a white coloured rod; and steamed willow - where it is steamed in tanks which darkens it to a chocolate colour.

Willow items for the garden will last for a maximum of 3 years. Giving them a coating of teak oil or cuprinol clear will help to keep them looking good. If possible move items under cover in the winter.

I hope you enjoy your purchase.
