Very rarely, I am able to source quite unusual pieces, either during harvesting myself, or through external suppliers. These are pieces that usually wouldn't be attractive to people looking for a standard walking stick. However, these rare finds do speak to me. I usually spend hours contemplating these pieces, allowing them to guide me to what they end up becoming. The 'Stang' has found uses among those who's spiritual beliefs are centred in Paganism, Witchcraft and a connection with the natural world, its associated mythologies, and spirits. It can represent The Horned God, or be used in circle casting, or as an Altar if struck into the ground. It is said that those with the ability to connect spiritually with the natural world, are able to feel Mother Earth's pulse through the Stang. Whilst I lay no claim to such abilities, it might be foolhardy of me to ignore these beautiful pieces of nature's gift, and what they are telling me during those contemplative sessions.
