I made several quilts for each of my grand-children and thoroughly enjoyed the process. It is nice to have an excuse to use more 'fun' fabrics than when making 'adult' quilts. It is also nice to do a quicker project, although still time consuming doing the hand quilting and binding etc, it still grows a lot quicker than a full size quilt.
There is also something really wonderful about wrapping your baby in a handmade, bespoke, heirloom quilt. It can be kept forever and be your child's favourite 'blankie'.

Full description
This is a gorgeous handmade quilt, made from, Safari Plants' fabric which, is a 100% cotton and is designed in the UK by 'The Craft Cotton Company' and is produced in India.
The fabric is in a lovely shade of peach and green and depicts hippos, elephants and rhino's. All the fabrics used are from the same collection and therefore coordinate perfectly. The pattern I have used is a traditional quilt block known as the 'Disappearing nine Patch'.
The quilt is 39" wide x 52" long. Perfect for a cot / cot bed or playmat. The backing fabric and binding are also a 100% cotton. The three layers of fabric are hand quilted with a running stitch using variegated thread. It is also tied through the centre of each block, both traditional quilting methods, completed by hand.
It is machine washable, I have washed it and line dried it upon completion and it has been stored away in a plastic bag. It was made in a smoke free home.
