Over the past few years I have spent many hours walking around our local lake, observing it in every season and every weather. It is a man-made lake, created by the Victorians as a boating lake and over the past decade regenerated and partially re-wilded to increase habitat.
The wildlife that uses the lake is wonderful in its variety but I am especially drawn to the reeds, bullrushes and other plants that fringe the lake and return to this subject often. This print captures the winter face of the lake when the plant life is reduced to its bare bones and the intriguing skeletons of the vegetation stand out starkly in the cold air.
