I was enjoying wood turning and making things....I am still pleased by the little slither of bark that shows it is part of a living tree... so a celebration of mother nature and the beauty of wood... (I am a little embarrassed that the finish isn't perfect, but I don't want to take it all apart to refinish it...so it is what it is, warts n all...sometimes the grain dictates what will happen!)

a small box I made years ago from a piece of cherry from a tree I cut down at my in laws house. 65mm tall x 58 mm diameter, it has small dots made from ebony, brass and mahogany and a brass style hinge that allows the lid to open. My daughter used it for years and now she has moved out and left it behind I am offering it to a new owner. The box isn't perfect, was has been caught in the wood grain and the grain has left marks, some of the dots have sanding scratches...but it is what it is, a lovely piece for storing little knick nacks and looking rather good:- even if I do say so myself...next time I make one I will take more care with the finishing, which I have learnt more about over the years...
