Moorhens are everywhere on the British canals. They have a very ungainly and comical vibe about them. Because I see them every day from my narrowboat, I am inspired to paint them!

Full description
This 1/50 limited edition print of a moorhen shows the typical characteristics of it's nature; flighty, ungainly and comical! Detailed facial features on this painting highlights the bird's quickness. It's quirkey coloured lime green legs are painted such that there is movement to the watercolour alongside the splatter effect of the background. The use of salt on the body when the paint is nearly dry forms an interesting effect that adds interest.
