Thank you for shopping with us.
I started collaborating with fabulous leather-worker Becs Ball from Bosorne Leatherwork in 2021 and I am absolutely loving the work we are doing together.
I wanted to make a slightly taller basket with longer leather handles and this sizing is perfect. It looks stunning in the simple randing weave in buff willow with the ruddy brown leather handles. This is the second of this design I have made - it just feels a good basket recipe to repeat.
The price includes P&P.

There are many thousands of different varieties of willow grown right across the world. The most commonly used for basketry are Salix triandra, Salix viminalis and Salix purpurea - the most commonly used being Salix triandra 'Black Maul'.
Black Maul in itself can be used in four ways - as the standard brown basket willow; boiled and stripped of it's bark which produces the lovely honey-coloured buff willow; as white willow - where Black Maul is cut in the winter and left to stand in shallow trays of water until it starts to shoot - then stripped of it's bark to leave a white coloured rod; and steamed willow - steamed in tanks which darkens it to a chocolate colour.
Willow baskets should last for many years and have traditionally been handed down from generation to generation. With our centrally heated homes they need to be given a little more care. Once or twice a year, put your basket outside in the rain - or give it a gentle scrub with some water and a kitchen brush. This will clean the dust off it and refresh the willows. This is especially good for log baskets which can dry and crack from the heat of a fire.
Enjoy your basket
