The Kindred Collection is the result of many happy hours examining ancient Minoan and Cycladic votive objects in museums of Crete and Rhodes. The decorative motifs and patterns reflect my interest in textile design from the early 20th century.

Full description
This sculptural ceramic is from my Kindred Collection of abstract forms, and makes an unusual minimalist focal point in any room. Kindred pieces can also be used to contribute to contemplation during yoga and mindfulness meditation, their simple forms promoting a calming atmosphere for practice. I created the piece from black stoneware clay, and added decorative panels and motifs in muted shades of soft blossom pink and white. There are different but related motifs back and front of the form with a band of white wrapping around from front to back to connect the two facets. Though of course which you choose as front, and which as back is entirely up to you! Each piece in the Kindred Collection is different because each is entirely handmade – I don’t use moulds or transfers. So, each has a personality of its own, and a name, this one is Colm. 18cms high.
