I am a sculptor from Cornwall, England. Each morning I walk the coast near our home often sifting through the tideline to beach comb and clean. Beach combing has a meditative quality and I’m here in all weathers, feeling the turning of the seasons. The sea brings treasure from many different places. These are both natural and man made. The sea worn glass and plastic pieces I find, photograph and use in my own creations are also beautiful. The mussel shells I collect are lovingly chosen and sorted for their colour shape and completeness. I wish them to be the first step of your creative endeavour. They are suitable for many projects. Mould making, jewellery, crafting, decoration and photography.

Full description

25 x Small shells

Wild native mussel shells, naturally shale tumbled blue and pearl on the wild Cornish coast in England.

I handpick each one, sort and clean to provide a natural raw base for all creative projects. They make beautiful home decor, tiny dishes, wedding table cards, props, to name a few.

Each shell is complete, without holes or cracking. Wild sea wear allows mother of pearl to show beneath the softened blue shell. My shells have not been harvested to eat and are a beautiful remnant of the shellfish’s natural lifespan.

Mussel shell sizes:

Extra small is under 2.5cm

Small is 2.5cm - 4.5cm

Medium is 4.5cm - 7.5cm

Large shells are between 7cm and 12cm

Shells naturally range from 0.5mm to 12cm although larger ones are rarer in the shale as they are often broken up. The smaller ones similarly as they are thinner and more delicate.

Packaging and delivery:

I carefully wrap shells in paper and card from a local supplier and use paper tape to minimise the environmental impact of bringing them to you.
