If ever you're having a bad day, look at pictures of Long Eared Owls. They never fail to cheer me up.
This owl is created using pyrography, which is burning on wood, and coloured with acrylic inks and coloured pencils. The piece is preserved with linseed oil.
The log slice is approximately 14cm x 13cm and 1.5cm deep. It has an attached string for hanging. Wood is a natural item therefore there will be imperfections in the grain.
All wood items are best situated away from extremes of temperature and humidity. Pyrography can also fade in direct sunlight.
I try to photograph items as accurately as possible however colours can appear differently on different monitors and devices.
