Full description

A hand stamped vintage silver-plated tea spoon with wording inspired by Rene Magritte's masterpiece 'The Treachery of Images'. Is it or isn't it a spoon? Is it still a spoon if it says it isn't one? Is the inscription true, or not? Is it Art? Either way you can stir your tea with it so ultimately these questions are of purely intellectual interest. It's an ornately patterned teaspoon measuring approximately 13.5cm long and I would guess it's Victorian.

This would make a fun little gift for a tea-loving artiste or an art-loving tea drinker, or why not just treat yourself to a little bit of daftness to brighten your own day. Especially if you live or work with people who just wouldn't get the joke...

This listing is for ONE spoon. You will receive the spoon shown in the photographs. The lettering is coloured with a non-toxic, water-based acrylic ink. Wash carefully by hand.

Please note this is a vintage spoon (in fact it's probably an antique) so it has all kinds of interesting wear marks and blemishes, especially on the back, so please do look carefully at the photos if the condition of the spoon matters more than the message. This spoon has been around a bit and has character. It's a survivor. If you were looking for a mirror-finished brand new spoon, this isn't one. Just so you know.

I can do other wording to order so if there's another arty quote you'd like to see on a spoon, do please get in touch!
