Star needles - have 4 barbs each side are fast felting and great on most fibres, a wonderful all rounder.
Twisted- the twisted needle helps pull the fibres down neatly minimising surface holes, perfect for top layers
Reverse-the bards on these needles are reversed causing a dragging motion when pulling the needle out, great for creating textures like fur.
Triangular-a wonderful all rounder! Great for building up core.
