Garnets are the birthstone for January and the gemstone gift for the second wedding anniversary.
Garnets have been used in jewellery for many years and have been found in ancient jewellery dating back as far as 3500BC, used by the Aztecs, Romans, Egyptians and native Americans. It is believed to be associated with fire, passion and romance and still to this day continues to be a symbol of love. In the beliefs of crystal healing properties Garnet is said to be a traveller's stone, in fact, many courageous discoverers and adventurers were known to wear garnet stones for protection.
