I can’t help it – I’m a maximalist… I always have too much stuff with me. I designed this bag so I can cart around all the things I need and still have space to spare for my jacket, should I need to stow that too. I wish I’d had this bag when I was a new mum – it would have been so useful!
I found a lovely blue cotton throw in a thrift shop that seemed barely used which I repurposed to make these bags. The simple squares design caught my eye. I made the purple edge binding from cotton sari fabric and like the bold contrast it makes with the blue.

Sometimes, you just need a huge great bag – the Big Bucket Bag is ideal for those occasions. Whether you’re filling it for the beach or a picnic, full of groceries, with a nappy bag and extra clothes as well as snacks for your kids, or your lunch and work projects for the day along with your gym kit, this bag provides ample room for everything you need to take with you, with space left over for things you might acquire on the road.
It features cute comfortable-to-hold oval-shaped carry handles as well as a wide strap that comfortably spreads the load of a heavier burden across the full shoulder. Tripple-stitched seams make this pack-horse of a bag extra sturdy. The oval-shaped base forms a wide internal space in which to spread out the contents and find items easily.
Shop sustainably – a thick cotton throw was repurposed for this project. It yielded enough fabric to make four pieces. I like each product I make to be as unique as the person who will use it, so no two bags are the same. For these, each is finished with stitching of a different colour, so you can choose your preferred colourway. Freestyle stitching on the carry handles sections give these bags a quirky and relaxed style.
