I love creating quality hand-made macramé wall hangings. There is something about the intricate detail, yet bohemian simplicity of these designs that makes them very chic and elegant. I only started experimenting with macrame this summer but it’s quite an addictive craft and with endless knot combinations, cord thicknesses and colours to play with, I’m never bored. I mainly stay with the more subdued colours for preference but there are one or two brighter colours in my shop, just to ring the changes. If you read this and want one of these designs but in a different colour, do contact me as I am happy to take commissions and discuss colour options.

Full description
A striking macrame wall hanging which is made from soft stone and beige coloured cotton cord. Carefully crafted using a series of different knotting techniques, these intricate patterns ultimately come together to create a beautiful design. This wall hanging starts as a length of dowel hanging off a metal rail with varying lengths of cord attached. It hardly requires any other tools other than my hands, and the knowledge of many different knotting techniques. Certain knots use up more cord than others, so I need to be careful to have the correct lengths of cord in the right place and order to ensure I don't run out of length before the end of the design. Once I'm happy that the cords are all in the correct order I start the knotting process, carefully ensuring all the knots are equal and even as I work across the pattern. Finally, at the end of the pattern the design is secured with a wrap knot, fringe or tassels and sometimes wooden beads. All tassels and fringes are then carefully trimmed as required. This process takes time, patience and skill. It's also a very meditative and relaxing activity which results in beautiful, stylish pieces of wall art.
Measurements:
Length from dowel to bottom (this doesn’t include the drop from the top of the cord hanging): approximately 29"
Width of dowel: approximately 21.5"
Width of wall hanging at widest point (approximate where hanging is shaped): 18"
