This warm, orange-red stone is a variety of Chalcedony, a member of the Quartz family.
Used as an adornment by man for over 4,500 years, this stone has come to symbolise health, luck and royalty.
It was prescribed by ancient healers to 'invigorate the blood'.
It is considered a birthstone for both July and Cancer, as an alternative to Ruby and as a Zodiac stone for Leo and August.
Here I have increased the connection to Leo with the use of Swarovski crystals in the colours 'peridot', 'fire opal' and 'sunflower'.
Leo has the traditional birthstone of Peridot, the element of Fire and is ruled by the Sun.

Full description
Natural Carnelian earrings in sunset hues adorned with sparkly Swarovski crystals.
These semi-translucent Carnelian beads are un-dyed, showing the natural tawny-amber colour with occasional lighter bands and milky inclusions.
Each earring features an 8mm, 6mm and 4mm Carnelian bead topped with a 2.5mm gold vermeil round and a trio of sparkly 4mm Swarovski crystals in 'peridot', 'fire opal' and 'sunflower'.
The beads hang from gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver plated with 18k gold, and the wires are stamped '925'.
These pretty earrings measure approximately 1.5 inches (4cm).
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
