I found this little stool looking sad and dreary, such a lovely frame it seemed a waste of such a great design and solid piece. I love Ercol, classic and quality. I had an off cut of pink fabric from a project I did for our lounge. I covered and Ercol two seater in bright pink and orange…looks great if I say so myself. The gorilla has also been used at home to cover some arms of a chair that our naughty cat had scratched. The grey and the pink look great together.

Cute vintage Ercol Cloister footstool.
I’ve left the frame as original, Elm wood with a lovely scalloped edge, in excellent condition so why change it?
I have stripped the top, new foam and fire retardant under cover then covered in upholstery weight Emma Shipley fabric. It’s an early design of hers of a beautiful gorilla head. The fabric has a heavy wool feel to it, the pink is a piece left over from an Ercol settee I upholstered for myself.
Nice bit of thick piping to finish the edge of the top.
A unique piece which will add a bright pop of colour to any room and just right for resting weary feet.
