Obsidian is a volcanic glass that forms when molten rock cools rapidly.
It is mostly black, but can be found in brown, tan or green and - rarely - in red, orange, yellow or blue.
Sometimes two colours can swirl together.
This occurs most commonly with brown and black, and is known as Mahogany Obsidian, so called because the colour is reminiscent of rich, polished mahogany wood.
Obsidian has been used by humans since the Stone Age.
When broken, Obsidian has very sharp edges, and Stone Age man fashioned the material into spear tips, arrow heads and knife blades.
Mahogany Obsidian is thought to enhance creative energy and sexuality.
