A Drawstring Day/ Evening Bag made from French Vintage Fabrics.

This lovely drawstring bag is made from Vintage French glazed Romanex de Boussac fabric. Both fabrics are from 1987. The outer fabric is called 'Omega' and is a beautiful Art Nouveau stylised flower and leaf design in shades of soft pink and mint green, set on a lilac background. The inner fabric 'Ombrage' is a companion fabric with an all over leaf design in complementary colours.

The bag can also be used as a small tote as it is surprisingly roomy due to its boxed base. It also has a useful inner pocket on one side made from the outer fabric - which is the perfect place to house your mobile phone or house keys.

The bag is 25 cm tall and 34 cm wide (when not drawn). The base is 23 cm wide by 13 cm deep. The total handle length is 34 cm (height of 17 cm).

I was lucky to find quite long lengths of these very pretty vintage French chintz fabrics and, after some research, found that they are from a set of archive designs from the Musee d'Impressions Sue Etoffes - a textile manufacturer founded in1833.

I know this kind of glazed cotton chintz has gone out of fashion for your curtains but is does make a very pretty bag! Great to be able to recycle vintage fabrics into new and useful objects.
