I love making things from wood, I am a tree surgeon and I collect unusual bits of wood that I find. The grain in this wood is so distinctive that I wanted to make a simple necklace from it to show it off.

Full description
This necklace I made from a piece of Bog Oak wood. Bog Oak is a wood that has been buried in peat bogs and preserved from decay for hundreds or sometimes thousands of years. It comes out very dark in colour and in this piece the grain has become very distinctive.
Bog Oak piece measures approx 1cm wide x 2 cm tall. Chain is 925 stamped sterling silver and is available in 18 or 20" length.
I cut and sanded the bog oak pendant by hand, the only power tools I use are the drills for making the holes for the chain.
