A gorgeous countryside scene of sheep grazing by the river. This textile picture has been created using silk fabrics and woollen fibres that have been needle felted to a felt base. Silk fabric in various shades of blue and green has been cut into strips and the picture background formed by attaching them to a piece of backing felt using a needle felting process. This process binds the fabric and fibres to the backing felt without the need for stitching. Additional woollen fibres have been added to create further texture and the trees and sheep felted to complete the design. In addition to binding the fabrics, the needle felting creates a beautiful texture to the surface of the picture, with the raw edges of the fabric left exposed in places to add to the artwork.
The final piece has been mounted onto a piece of thick card and an 8" x 8" white mount added (picture area 4" x 4") leaving it ready to be framed. The listing is for the card backed picture with mount only. The photographs illustrate how the final piece might look framed but the frame is not included in the listing. Please note, photographs of the framed piece have been taken with the glass removed to avoid reflections.
