I have taken the last few months off from woodturning to concentrate on my botanical water colour work a few examples of which you can view on my Instagram account. However, I have picked up the chisels again and will be adding new items and old favourites. The latest additions are two attractive sycamore drinks trays but more items to come.
This was the last piece of Padauk that I had of any reasonable dimensions. So I wanted to make a statement piece that would have some impact.

Full description
A shallow dish turned in Padauk. When first machined this exotic hardwood is bright red but gradually mellows over time. It can be a very dusty timber to work. A hardwearing lacquer finish has been applied and the piece has then been burnished to give a lustrous appearance akin to that of a freshly fallen conker.
