I had a conversation with a friend who also has chronic pain who lamented that she wished she had a badge that said "yes, I'm still very ill. No, I don't want to talk about it!". That got me thinking about making something simple and very pretty that could be worn to send a message without the wearer ever needing to say a word

Ouch! This little and round brooch makes a statement. The word ouch has been embroidered onto pale peach wool felt in pink with a daffodil motif stitched underneath. The idea behind this is to provide a subtle but still very pretty way to let those close to you know how you might be feeling without having to explain everything if you don't want to. If you live with chronic pain, fibromyalgia or mental or emotional pain then some days you might not want to talk about it but still need those around you to know that you're having a difficult day. This little badge will let them know that you need very gentle hugs, a little bit more rest or an extra cup of tea without you saying a word.
I have fibromyalgia and know that even when I feel like I'm on fire those around me can't see it and I rarely want to have to say it but still need their support. This pretty little brooch is my solution. Let the people close to you know what the brooch means to you so that when you wear it, they can be more aware of how you feel.
The brooch has a standard metal brooch backing pin. The embroidered design has been stitched onto wool felt and backed onto thick wool felt and is very sturdy.
