This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
A Dragonfly tile in glorious red, white and bllue, very patriotic.
The dragonfly has wings of streaky white and a red and blue body. The head is a blue dichroic glass nugget I fused in my kiln. The surround is clear iridised florentine glass which has a super texture and shimmer.
I've then framed the suncatcher with a bright red glass border with blue corners.
I've added a twisted wire frame round the suncatcher for strength and neatness.
It looks wonderful in the window with the sun casting the rainbow colours which change with the light, It also makes a very pretty picture hanging on the wall.
I am happy that this suncatcher is pretty solidly constructed and would be happy outside in a sheltered spot where it doesnt get blown about.
The suncatcher is 14.5 cm top to bottom and formed from a 10.5 cm square.
It hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached on either side..
I I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure it is unique.
I also make this in other colours and a Butterfly in the same style. See last photo. You can find them as separate listings.
