Formerly 'Buttons, Beads and Blanket Stitch'.
My work predominantly comprises hand cut and burnished lino prints, with sewing playing an occasional part.
Whether working in print or in stitch, I am inspired by the natural world and the people around me, with words/text frequently playing an integral part.

Rather than despairing at the brevity of time, this print is a joyful celebration of the simple pleasures of life and of making the most of our time, whatever that may entail!

Who hasn’t, whether as child or adult, blown dandelion seeds into the wind to find out the time? The seed head is gone in a trice, and the older we get, so it seems is time itself…
Having sketched and planned the bold shapes and lines of the design, my final drawing was transferred onto a traditional hessian backed lino which I then hand cut and burnished in black ink onto a beautiful natural ‘Lokta’, a stunning handmade Nepalese paper. The paper is thin but strong and looks just beautiful with the light streaming through.
The printed image measures approx. 20cm x 30cm with the paper measuring 25cm x 38cm approx.
Each of this edition of 50 prints is numbered, titled and signed and having been printed by hand, slight variations from print to print will occur. The textural inconsistencies from paper to paper also add to the beauty of what is a unique, hand crafted piece.
Your print will be posted to you wrapped in tissue and rolled within a cardboard tube. On its arrival, remove the print from the tube and allow it time to unfurl. (Lying the print on a flat surface under a heavy book may help to speed up the flattening process – do not be tempted to roll the print in the opposite way as this will almost certainly result in creasing and possibly damaging the print).
