As with most of my embroidery, this piece started with the threads - they're hand dyed by the lovely Clare from Hope Jacare up in sunny Scotland, and the colours just made me think of the wonderful autumn displays in the Isabella Plantation in Richmond park - near to us. I laid down a base of horizontal and vertical satin stitch, and then went to town on the french knots using the different thicknesses and textures to create an impressionistic textured abstract landscape. A really enjoyable piece to stitch and wear.
