I believe that period products should be free. I use a menstrual cup myself and love period pants as a back-up, but did you know that there is 20% tax on period pants? The tax definitely helps to make them more of a luxury item and not affordable for many people.
When they removed the 5% 'Tampon Tax' from other period products in the UK, the government did not stipulate that the 5% decrease needed to be passed on to the consumer. As a result, most shops did not drop the prices and the ones that did only reduced by an average of 1%. The tax never truly went away, it's just the people charging it that changed.

This Sanitary Pad Pin is a statement about period poverty. Buy it for someone as a first period gift. It's a wooden pin, but also a Feminist Gift.
"Tampon tax" has been abolished in the UK, which means that the Government are no longer charging VAT on period products except period pants, which are taxed at 20%. The retailers are under no pressure to pass this saving on to their customers though, so some companies will pass it on and some won't. Educate yourself on whether the products you buy have been reduced by 5%.
This pin is always a favourite at markets and prompts lots of laughs and discussion.
