Inspiration

I've always been fascinated by crows. I think it stems from an encounter I had with one when I was about ten years old.
I used to spend the long Summer holidays with my Aunt in her cottage in the Isle of Man. One summer a crow followed us back on a walk. It remained around the garden for a few weeks. We thought it must have been hand reared as it was very tame and would sit on my shoulder. It was my playmate and companion that Summer and kept us entertained with its antics. One morning I ran outside as usual to see him but he was gone, never to return. However the memory of those few weeks in the company of ' Mr Crow' has stayed with me forever.
The light on the feathers of the photo reference I used for the drawing highlighted all the beautiful blue hues of the crow.
