Hand quilted fabric collage with English Paper Pieced patchwork tree and heart shaped falling leaves.
I love to hand stitch and this miniature quilt is the result of many hours of happy, slow stitching, using several different, traditional methods. One of my favourite techniques is echoing, by hand quilting around the shapes many times - this makes them pop out and also adds a lovely flow and texture and compresses the wadding.
The fruit hexagons are vintage Laura Ashley fabric, reused from a blind I made in the 1980’s; there is a little piece of my life sewn into all my work and my hope is that is also finds a connection with whoever owns it.
I hang my miniature quilts with Command Strips, which are easily available.
Size is 17.5” by 21” or 44.5cm by 53.5cm.
The mini quilt will be wrapped in acid free tissue paper.
