Hardwearing, yet comforting, I place my mini hot water bottle in the small of my back when sat at my desk and often take it with me on walks, tucked into my waistband under a large overcoat.
I try really hard not to use any plastic in the things I make and sell. Unfortunately, I can only find HWBs with plastic bungs so | cannot, in all honesty, call this plastic free. However, there's a lot to be said for sitting with a HWB up your jumper rather than having the central heating on, so I'll soothe my conscience with that thought.

A mini hot water bottle with a simple striped cover made entirely from hand dyed, hand knitted cotton string.
The covers are hand knitted by me (in the round, for those in the knit-know) in Everlasto no.4 Polished Cotton Twine. Slight colour variation and blemishes are characteristic of unbleached cotton string and add to its charm. Everlasto products are manufactured by James Lever in Bolton, UK, where they've been making twines, cords and ropes for over 150 years.
The actual hot water bottle is made of natural rubber, which means it stays warmer longer than PVC bottles. It is manufactured for Vagabond and conforms to current British Standard for such items. The full instructions accompanying the bottle are included in the packaging.
To remove the cover, empty the hot water bottle, squeezing out all the air and putting the stopper back in place. Roll the hot water bottle and squeeze it through the opening at the neck. It is a tight fit and will require a bit of effort to get it out, but cotton string is very hardy and will withstand a lot of stretching. To reinsert the hot water bottle do the above in reverse.
All the coloured string in my work is hand dyed at my kitchen sink, so colours may vary slightly from those shown in the images. If there is a big difference I will contact you beforehand to confirm that your happy with the alternative.
