In April 2021, we were able to visit Mwnt in Ceredigion. It was a perfect day - sun, blue sky, blue sea - all with the heady coconut perfume of the gorse. It was impossible for me not to use my photos to stitch the scene!

Full description
Mwnt in Ceredigion - a beautiful bay on a lovely day with plenty of flowering gorse bushes and the tiny white chuch below the hillside - composed of appliqued patches and hand embroidery, using my photos as a reference.
Scraps of fabrics in shades of green, beige and blue, to represent sea, hillside, beach and sky have been hand stitched onto a thick felt background. The fabrics are either recycled or are offcuts from previous work - my scrap bag is extensive! Details of the design have been added in simple hand embroidery using threads (some of which are vintage) and vintage 3 ply wool.
The plaque is edged in blanket stitch using pale blue and green threads to tone with the colours used in the background of the plaque.
The back of the plaque is neatened with commercial felt and a hanging loop, of button-hole stitch in cotton, is securely stitched in place.
Height (excluding hanging loop) - 12.5 cm approx.
Please note this plaque may not be washed. Easel not included.
