Stitching restful scenes is a restful activity with much satisfaction. I have often stitched tiny sheep and houses - this time combined with dry stone walls, wild roses and cow parsley. We had recently returned from a weekend in Derbyshire! I have many fabrics - some acquired as craft supplies others recycled (some originally my own - others given to me or inherited), and I love to make appliqued backgrounds on which to sticth the details of these designs.

Full description

A pretty rural scene featuring roses, sheep, cow parsley, dry stone walls and a tiny house, composed of appliqued patches and hand embroidery.

Scraps of fabrics in shades of green and blue, to reprsent meadowa and sky have been hand stitched onto a thick felt background. The fabrics are either recycled or are offcuts from previous work - my scrap bag is extensive! Details of the design have been added in simple hand embroidery using threads (some of which are vintage) and vintage 3 ply wool.

The plaque is edged in blanket stitch using pale blue and green threads to tone with the colours used in the background of the plaque.

The back of the plaque is neatened with commercial felt and a hanging loop, of button-hole stitch in cotton, is securely stitched in place.

Height (excluding hanging loop) - 12.5 cm approx.

Please note this plaque may not be washed. Easel not included.

Please note: items from Lynwoodcrafts are intended for adults. This item is unsuitable for children under 3 years of age since it contains small parts which may represent a choking hazard.
