The traditional birthstone for January and the sign of Capricorn is garnet.
Garnet is also the stone for the second wedding anniversary.
Capricorn is ruled by the planet Jupiter, whose stone is Lapis Lazuli.
I thought it would be fun to design a necklace based around both these iconic stones.
In ancient Egyptians, Pharaohs were entombed with garnet and lapis lazuli jewellery, both considered prized possessions for the afterlife.
Garnet was also favoured by warriors, who believed they had the power to shield their wearers from harm.
Lapis lazuli was considered a stone of the Gods, a stone of wisdom and truth.

Full description
A striking necklace of deep red Garnet and gold-flecked, royal blue Lapis lazuli stone beads.
A Czech pressed glass coin bead forms the centre of this striking necklace of Garnet and Lapis Lazuli.
It measures approximately 2cm x 2cm (3/4 inch x 3/4 inch) and has two sides. One side is red and navy stripes on a white background, the flip-side shows a lot more white, red/brown stripes and just a hint of blue - see photos 2 and 3.
This coin bead both unites and reinforces the red garnet and blue lapis beads.
The necklace itself features garnet nuggets and 4mm garnet rounds, with 6mm and 4mm lapis lazuli beads.
It is further accented with bright red sparkly Swarovski crystals in a colour called "light siam", and golden hematite beads which add shine and sparkle to the piece.
The necklace is finished with a gold filled trigger clasp.
This necklace measures approximately 18 inches (46cm).
Delivery is free within the UK.
