Back in late 2019 I was lucky enough to buy a small kiln from a neighbour, complete with her tools, glass collection and books.
Coincidentally I had already booked myself onto a Xmas workshop making fused glass tree decorations and after that I was hooked.
It never gets boring waiting to see what emerges from the kiln... it doesn’t always go right but it’s pretty magical when it goes well.

Full description
These little tree decorations are made by cutting squares of blue glass and squares of clear glass. I then cut snowflakes from fine copper sheet using a die cutter and these are sandwiched between the two squares along with loops of copper wire for hanging. I then apply dots of snow to the clear top layer using white glass paint. They then go into the kiln for approx 7 hours. After cooling down overnight they will have fused together to form soft rounded edges and the copper has reacted to the intense heat and will have randomly changed colours to anything from deep reds to petrol blues. Sometimes an ombré mix of both.
Perfect for a twig tree and they look beautiful with fairy lights shining through.
Each decoration measures approx 3.5 x 3.5 cms.
