Wood spoons are catching on thankfully as people rediscover the pleasure of eating their soups, cereals and stews with unburned lips and no canteen like clatter of metal on crockery.
This is one of a series of small, tough spoons for eating which I am making from seasoned birchwood. It's a design which I've been pleased with in the past as they're compact and easy to wield when in action at the table or comfy chair. Small enough to carry around as a personal utensil and tough enough to tackle ice cream.
The coloured handles - no two the same- were mixed to specifically brighten up winter mornings.

Full description

A handcarved eating spoon made from seasoned birch wood with a lightly textured bowl base and grippy teardrop handle.

The spoon is 5 inches long with a 2 inch bowl.

The handle is painted with hardwearing artist's acrylic and the wood of the bowl has been oiled with protective food grade flaxseed oil.

To care for your wood spoon, just rinse it after use with water and detergent or soap and put it to dry. Please don't glet it near a dishwasher as it will "cook" it and it will be no more. Every now and then it helps to give it a good wipe with linseed or walnut oil and let it dry for a day or two. It should last for years with this simple care and become a familiar friend.
